Broadcasts

Prisoner of War broadcasts and propaganda radio with interviews with prisoners of war in Germany and Japan.

During WWII the Germans and Japanese used propaganda broadcasts to discourage American and allied soldiers and their families. To get them to listen to the broadcasts they did interviews with captured soldiers, who gave details about their location and condition. The Japanese broadcast was called “Radio Tokyo.” The German broadast was called “Calling Back Home” and was played nightly on the 31 and 49 meter bands in Berlin.
