Dear Mrs. Brewster

Many thanks for sending the message. It was picked up at many different points and listeners were most kind in sending it to us.

It was the first message we have received since Nov 1941. He had been reported a prisoner by the war department. He enlisted and went to Manila in Nov 1940. Was discharged from the Army Sept 15 1941 to take a civil service position with the Quartermasters Dept. He agreed to remain in the island until his Enlistment would have Expired Nov 1942.

He and Miss Kathlyn Charter were to have been married Dec 15 1941. The father was an American importer in the Islands.

With many thanks I remain
Yours Sincerely,

Mrs. Floyd E. Hankley
