My dear Mrs Brewster,
Your letter telling me of a radio message from my son Richard L. Lile who is in an internment camp Santo Tomas in Manila - was the happiest word I’d had for many a day. God bless you for writing me! It was the first clearest word I’d had since the fall of Manila - & I cant tell you the joy & comfort it gave me. I received several letters later, but yours was the first & the happness it gave me was beyond words.
I have been writing him in care of the Red Cross General but have had no assurance that he has received them - now I can look forward to a letter from him soon - With all my heart I thank you for your kindness.
Sincerely yours
